♥ Guess Who Is BACK?!

AUSTIN! I am here again to help you party hard with what is LEFT of your summer. Aren't you so excited?! I am, oh my goodness! Twiiter is up and ALIVE back from the dead! Zombies do exist! I will be trying to update the Events Calendar for the next month or so. I don't know if the blog writing will stay but dang guuuurl I am gonna try my best. I mean it has been a year since I have updated. I am so disappointed in myself *hangs head* FOR NOW THOUGH! I do have a TON of stuff to keep you occupied all up on the Events Calendar, man it is JAMMED PACKED some days! But really I would keep an eye on the Twiiter Feed because it will be your best bet for last minute updates of amazing things going on in town. Hope to see you out this month. Try and keep cool.

Young, Glam and Poor. XO,
Dena

♥ PEENSCEEN! WHERE ART THOU?!

If you didn’t know the lovely PeenSceen has finally taken its last curtain call, which I myslef and a lot of people are avidly bummed about. I know Austin party people are going to be looking for a replacement blog to keep them up to date on all things night life. I only hope I can maybe help fill a VERY SMALL portion of that gap for some of you. Granted I am not the best of bloggers, nor do I update as much as I should here, BUT as you might know I try to have the NEWEST party info on my Twiiter and the Events Calendar is ALWAYS updated even if the written portion blog is not!

No Dough No Problem:

Tuesday, Jul 27: Blogger and social media nerds you have another amazing happy hour to check out this week. If you didn’t make it to #BATHH or Bleet-up last week Examiner Happy Hour (#ATXexamHH)If you have never been may I suggest filling your light night Tuesday evening with some “interesting” $1 horror movies at Alamo Draft house for Terror Tuesday, but if you just want to shake your groove thing you can never go wrong with TuezGayz at Barbarella. This place will be packed past midnight. It is like the exact opposite of Cinderella.

Wednesday, Jul 28: My personal first stop of the night will be at The Austintatious Deals Launch Party that is co-hosted by my good friends company NDC Resources. There is going to be drinks, food, and goodies that you can win. Hopefully I will be taking home a prize! Be sure to RSVP though at launch@austintatiousdeals.com After you can catch what is left of POSR? (I have no idea since Chris is in NYC what the exact deets are) DJing at Barbarella. Before all this crazyness though I will be hitting up my favorite whine staple Whole Foods for Cheese Please. Seriously if you have yet to try this you are MISSING OUT.

Thursday, Jul 29: REALLY THURSDAY?! REALLY! Why have you become the new Saturday?! Austin Fashion Week’s kickoff mixer is going on at Whole Foods, and if you are anyone who cares about well, fashion, you will be there! After I will be check out the Rogue Double Dare Challenge in hopes that I can rind a slide in to a big ice cream sunday or pick a gigantic nose for some orange flags! And then there are the 500 other amazing things you can check out if green slime is not your bag. Cru Grils Night Out has complimentary champagne and 50% off all champagne by the bottle. Lift Café is hosting a Happy hour with wine tasting. House Wine Happy/Flower Hour has some delish free appetizers. You can go watch the premier episodes of wither Project Runway or Jersey shore on a big screen with fellow fans. But end your night with some sweet Motown tunes at Barbarella’s Grits and Gravy.

Friday, Jul 30: I have yet to attend any of the Music Under The Stars events at the bob Bullock Museum, but this is the LAST show of the series and there is a chance there will be some free food and drinks (non alcoholic)

Got Money (That's What I Want):

Tuesday, Jul 27: If you have any extra cash lying around and you want something amazingly fun to do before hitting the bars I would check out Totally! An 80s Burlesque Tribute at 501 Studios. It is a tad pricey but let me tell you the Jigglewatts show is always worth the cash you put down. If scantly clad lasses are not you bag of fun and you want to take out some aggression tonight, go start a circle pit at Emo’s for the Scream It Like You Mean It Tour. I would be sure to practice you angry fist pumps and windmills before you head out though. Also tonight is M Two’s LAST night for the spend $35 get $25 off coupon.

Wednesday, Jul 28: When I saw that Alamo Draft house will be hosting their AIR SEX Preliminaries the onlt thing I could hear in my head was Salt N Pepa’s Push It on repeat for hours. The only down fall of this show… Having beer come out your nose from laughing so hard, IT BURNS!

Thursday, Jul 29: I seriously count find diddley on anything you should have to PAY to do Thursday. I think this is why Thursday is owning my life right now.

Friday, Jul 30: If I would be ANYWHERE Friday get your self ghetto fabulous for The No Limit Party at Soot Inn. My second choice though would be to check out Lucy The Poodle's Summer Dance Party. There is just something about sock hops and 50’s tunes that get my heart racing. Live music seems to be the key of Friday. Built by Snow is playing KVRX Summer Series, and there are two benefit concerts. One Village World Music Celebration benefiting Amala Foundation at Momo’s. Krum Bums are playing Brad's Benefit Show at Emos.

♥ Quickie

My head is pounding form the level of CRAZY going on in my world right now. What I wouldn't give for a nice desk job where I could update this in my free time at work. but alas I don't have that luxury so I missed last week. Boo! But I am back, not in full force but I am here to give you the down a dirty deets for the week.

No Doe No Problem:

Wednesday, Jul 21: Arthouse at the Jones Center is hosting a series of membership "rush" events where they will be handing out free Dos Equis while informing you of the benefits of Arthouse membership. But I think all they need to tell you is that The Most Interesting Man in the World bought one and you will want one too. Lanai is hosting the 11th edition of Art Over Congress where you can dance with my one of my favorite DJ's Richard Gear, and check out some "strange" art. I am hoping for a super low brow art show. If your out early though I will always recommend Whole Foods Cheese Please event.

Thursday, Jul 22: I don't know what it is lately but Thursday has been the DAY for anything and all things amazingly free and fun. This week is no exception. I was to late in RSVPing for the Bleet Up that is hosted by the stunning Austin Eavesdropper. So since I wont be there instead I will be dropping in at Best in Heels and then hounding my fellow tweeps at the Big Ass Twitter Happy Hour. If I get out early enough I will try to stop by Cru for Girls Night out and some cheap bubbly or House Wine for there Flower Hour. And I will shake it all off at Grits and Gravy.

Got Money (That's What I Want):

Wednesday, Jul 21: Not a lot of things going on in the needing of cash land today. Austin Poetry Slam at ND 502 Studios has always sounded interesting to me and I have yet to attend but I HIGHLY recommend the ladies check out ht burlesque dance lesson that Coco Lectric of the Jigglewatts Burlesque will be hosting.

Thursday, Jul 22: Alamo Draft House is hosting a Goonies quote along so if you want to throw me some quarters down this wishing well I am stuck in so I can afford to go I will be forever grateful.

Come bring your heels and learn the classy way to drop it like it is hot for your man, or lady. If all the free bees and the burlesque classes sound a bit to femmie for you the you might be tough enough to attend the Campaign For Death Metal Purity Tour, being held at Beerland. If you come out with out a black eye or a neck cramp I think you might not be metal enough for this night.

♥ ABOUT ♥ ;

You Glam and Poor is a blog dedicated to helping my posh yet broke socialites keep up with what is going on in Austin.

I was tired of having to search tons of places to find complimentary events and also ones that might be worth diving into your wallet for. Thus Young, Glam, and Poor has got its start.
